A single-herb liquid extract of dried leaves of Aspalathus linearis, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Rooibos grows in one place on earth: the Cederberg mountains of the Western Cape, in poor acid sandy soil, in a climate of hot dry summers and wet winters, and every attempt to establish it anywhere else has failed. It is a legume, a broom-like shrub with fine needle green leaves. The red colour is not natural to the living plant — the cut material is bruised and left to oxidise in heaps, which turns it from green to the deep red-brown it is sold as. It contains no caffeine at all.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Rooibos is generally well tolerated. Speak to a practitioner first if you have a hormone-sensitive condition or liver disease.

If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs.
